Actress Manisha Koirala is known for working in a variety of films, including Dil Se, Bombay, 1942: A Love Story and the recent Heeramandi. However, shooting for some of these films can be difficult. The actress once recalled that she shot the classic love song ‘Tu Hi Re’ from the film Bombay surrounded by leeches.

Speaking to YouTube channel O2, Manisha said, “Tu Hi Re was a very difficult song. There was a part in it, two places, which were extremely difficult (to shoot). One was on the rocks and the sea would hit those rocks and there would be huge splashes, it was very dangerous, but somehow we managed to shoot it and we shot it properly and everything went well. The other place, I don’t know which area it was, we were in the middle of a dense forest and it was full of leeches.”

“So, if you take even one step, even a little far, you get leeches on your legs. (For the song) I had to wear a skirt, that blue skirt and I had to run in the jungle. It was full of leeches, it was very difficult. But then you find a mechanism. We were told to put salt, we wore shoes. We figured out how to move forward in a difficult situation,” the actor said.

Bombay was directed by Mani Ratnam and had music by the Mozart of Madras A.R. Rahman.

On the work front, Manisha was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Hiramandi.
