WhatsApp is bringing new features and some design changes

WhatsApp has introduced a series of updates aimed at improving the way users interact on the platform. These changes include new features designed to make messaging more customizable and efficient, as well as updates to its design.

One of the standout features is adding camera effects to photos and videos shared in chats. Users can now choose from 30 different filters, backgrounds and visual effects to enhance their images before sending. It expands on tools introduced by WhatsApp for video calls last year, offering more creative options within direct messaging.

Another new feature that will attract users is selfie stickers. As the name suggests, you can now turn your selfies into stickers to share in your chats. all you have to do is Tap the Create sticker icon > Use the camera to take a selfieAnd you have a personalized sticker. Currently this feature is available on Android, iOS users are also expected to get this feature soon.

WhatsApp is also making it easier to share sticker packs. If you find a sticker pack you think a friend will like, you can now share it directly in your chat. It’s a small but useful addition that will definitely appeal to sticker lovers who enjoy swapping and sharing their collections.

The update also brings a small but useful improvement to message responses. Users can now double-tap a message to respond, which is a faster alternative to the previous method of pressing and holding a message to select a response. A scrolling pop-out menu featuring the user’s most used emojis has also been introduced, allowing quick access to frequently used reactions. While the entire emoji library is still accessible via the reaction bar’s “+” symbol, the new layout aims to streamline the process. This feature is similar to what platforms like Discord offer, where frequently used reactions are easy to access.

It’s worth noting that while Meta’s Messenger app still offers a fixed set of emoji for reactions, this update on WhatsApp adds an extra layer of personalization that many users will appreciate.

WhatsApp says that these changes are the beginning of changes to come in 2025. The company is focused on improving the messaging experience for its users around the world while prioritizing privacy and security.
