What is the story of Kanta: Chapter 1?
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Kantara: Chapter 1 will revolve around the ancient traditions lost from the Tulu region in Karnataka. The prequel film will descend deeply in the knowledge of Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva Gods, making it a thematic relationship for the first installment.
While the original film detected just a simple insight into the aspects of Panjurli Daiva, it would be more wide and will be said that there would be a kind of experience in Indian cinema.
Located in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the film has been postponed to search for a man in the experiences of nature and divinity under the rule of Banwasi’s Kadamba. It was initially launched as a backstory for ancestral conflict in Kantara (2022).
What was the Kadamba dynasty?
The Kadamba dynasty was an ancient royal family who ruled the northern Karnataka and Konkan with a resident. Established by Maharaja Mayurasharma in 345 CE, the dynasty went up to 540 CE until it was dissatisfied.
What are the Panjruli Daiva and Guliga Diva Deity?
According to Tulu Fokalore, Panjruli Daiva and Guliga Daiva are two deities known in Karnataka popularly known from Kola, a shameful Hindu dance.
Panjurti is depicted as a pig -like Demegode, known to protect people and their crops. As legend, it is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati once adopted a boar, but as it grew up, it became disastrous. This inspired Lord Shiva to send it to earth and become a protector God.
On the other hand, the Guliga Daiva is depicted as a soul that is much more powerful and cruel than the Panjurli. Often convicted for bringing diseases, misfortune and chaos, the legend of the Guliga Daiva cursed it by Lord Vishnu and sent to Earth.
