During the talks, Karnataka argued in favor of gender-neutral spaces. The debate escalated when Ori asked if she would be comfortable if a man used the same bathroom as her daughter. Ory’s supporters said the question highlights the difference between public positions and private comfort levels, while critics said the issue is more complex than a simple yes-or-no answer.
In the clip, Ori opposed the idea of ”genderless spaces” and said separate facilities were important for women’s safety and to avoid confusion, especially in India. The discussion then turned to a personal example, with Ori asking Karnataka, “If you have a daughter and she went to pee and there’s a guy next to her peeing with his ding dong, would you have any objection to that?”

Karnataka laughed at first, paused and replied, “I want a genderless space.” Ori then reiterated that he was referring to a man and then asked if she would be comfortable with that. He didn’t say. The exchange immediately gained attention online, with many viewers focusing on that change in her response.

A different user said, “Now I understand why he moves in celebrity circles. He’s not a newbie or a fool. He’s a erudite, logical person whose company many enjoy,” while another said, “Who would have thought Ori is more of a man than many men.”
Singer Sona Mahapatra also weighed in on the debate around gender-neutral spaces. She reacted to the video in the comments section and argued that discussions about inclusivity cannot ignore the safety concerns faced by women in public spaces.
“Gender-neutral spaces’? Dear lady, the woke kingdom you live in sounds lovely. But have you traveled as a young woman in India in a Delhi bus or unreserved train compartment? I have. The harassment was constant. Until safety is equal, can we really pretend to be vulnerable? Dear India, has this changed and I am out of sync with the times? Feel free to correct me.
Dear gentleman, good luck to you,” he wrote.

Other users argued that Western social trends are often copied without considering the security realities in India. One comment said, “This just shows what a state of mind our liberals have inherited from their American counterparts, where we have to say things that were common knowledge a decade ago.”
