Welcome Turns 18: Anil Kapoor pays tribute to Feroz Khan’s RDX

Welcome, the 2007 comedy starring Anil Kapoor, Feroz Khan, Akshay Kumar and others celebrates its 18th anniversary today, with Kapoor paying tribute to the late Feroz Khan and his iconic RDX character.

comedy classic WelcomeThe film starring Anil Kapoor, Firoz Khan, Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat and others is celebrating its 18th anniversary today. Directed by Anees Bazmee and released on 21 December 2007, the film remains a fan favorite due to its great humor and iconic characters. Anil Kapoor, who played the unforgettable ‘Majnu Bhai’, marked the milestone by paying tribute to the late Feroz Khan, admitting that the film would not have been the same without his legendary character, RDX.

Kapoor shared pictures Welcome on the Reflecting on his initial reaction to the script, Kapoor recalled, “I remember listening to the script and wondering how it would land. The picture stops here and sitsAnees Bhai said, ‘Don’t worry Firoz Saab will take the pictureAnd he did. RDX picked up the film. This movie, this character, this madness, this magic.”

Director Anees Bazmee also celebrated the anniversary on Instagram, noting his enduring love for the film and its characters. He wrote, “It’s been 18 years of Welcome and the love hasn’t aged one bit. From Majnu-Uday’s craziness to Ghunghru’s priceless reactions, Rajeev’s innocence to RDX’s swag – every character stayed, lived and became family. Welcome became a mood, a context, a cozy watch. Thank you for the love, laughter and welcoming Welcome into your life again and again.”
