A man in Britain became an overnight sensation on social media after a video showed him leaving the middle of a haircut and running into the street to help a police officer who was attacked by a thug Was. The man, identified as Kyle Whiting, 32, was getting a trim at Aaron’s Barbers in Warrington, Cheshire when he saw an altercation taking place in the street. Before the situation could go pear-shaped, Mr. Whiting, still wrapped in his barber’s cloak, jumped out of his chair to get the policeman out of trouble.
With the cape spinning in the air, Mr. Whiting grabbed the perp from behind and pulled him away from the officer. He held him while other bystanders gathered to help. Another officer ran over him from a marked police car parked at the corner, before another squad vehicle arrived and took the man into custody.
Mr Whiting was quoted as saying, “Before you knew it, my barber had taken out his phone and walked over to the window and started recording. Then I saw the guy outside swinging at the police officer. And was throwing him on the ground.” By BBC,
Mr Whiting, whose sister is a police officer, said he was at the scene by chance as he was taking his girlfriend to the A&E unit at nearby Warrington Hospital.
He said, “I thought, ‘I’m not sitting back and watching this. If she were my sister, I would hope that if she was alone someone wouldn’t hesitate to help her.’
Internet reacts
The video clip of the incident has gone viral on social media with users praising Mr Whiting’s selflessness and quick decision making. Some people are calling him the “Caped Crusader” while others have dubbed him the “Haircut Hero”.
“Not all heroes wear capes… but this one does! Can we take a moment to appreciate this guy, mid-sectioned hair – but quick to assist Copper with a violent criminal? Like you. There aren’t enough people!” one user said, while another added: “Cape and all, what a legend.”
A third commented: “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a haircut man!”
