BTS’s V, aka Kim Taehyung, famously collaborated with late jazz icon Bing Crosby on a posthumous rendition of the timeless classic White Christmas. This collaboration bridges eras and styles, blending Vee’s love of jazz with Crosby’s timeless charm.
The track, which features a modern arrangement of Crosby’s archival vocals, features a warm blend of orchestral jazz and Vee’s signature deep, emotive voice. “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas / With every Christmas card I write / May your days be merry and bright / And may all your Christmases be white,” Vee and Crosby both sing in harmony, making it truly a special one. The project is created.
The lyrics highlight themes of love, comfort, and the enduring beauty of winter. The Crosby estate, aware of Vee’s appreciation of jazz, approached the singer with the idea of this performance, which had been done many times before.
Jazz enthusiast Vee has previously shared his appreciation for artists such as Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, making this collaboration a natural fit. In an official statement, V shared:
“I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved in a song with my all-time favorite jazz artist, Bing Crosby. I grew up listening to his song It’s Been a Long, Long Time countless times a day, and I feel like I Incredibly lucky and honored to have the chance to sing on White Christmas in the voice of someone I idolize, being a huge fan of his, I sang for him with complete sincerity and admiration. ”
Bing Crosby died in 1977. Bing Crosby’s daughter Mary Crosby also expressed her excitement about the collaboration:
“As a family, we are thrilled to see Vi and Dad sing together on this ultimate Christmas song. Their voices match beautifully, capturing the holiday spirit in the best way.”
The collaboration is in partnership with Crosby Estate, Primary Wave Music and Geffen Records.
