Dhanush is going to be seen in the lead role in the film Kara. Directed by Vignesh Raja, the action thriller is scheduled to release on April 30, 2026. Now it appears that Prithviraj Sukumaran was initially in talks with the Raayan actor to star in the film.
Did Dhanush’s Kara initially talk to Prithviraj Sukumaran for the film?
Speaking to Cinema Vikatan, director Vignesh Raja said, “Prithviraj Sir talked to me after watching Por Thozil. In fact, he was the initial choice for the role of Suraj Venjaramoodu in Kara.”
The filmmaker said, “When I narrated the character to Prithviraj sir, he said it didn’t work for him because it seemed two-dimensional, although he believed the film would be a hit. After that, I narrated the role to a few other people, and they shared similar feedback. I then reworked the character, and later, Sooraj sir came on board.”
Kaara is an upcoming action thriller set in Ramanathapuram in 1991. The film tells the story of a man named Karasami, who is forced to move away from certain aspects of his life but eventually has to face them.
Since he strives to protect and guide those who trust in him, kara Helps them reach safety, undertaking an emotional and intense journey. With the backdrop focusing on the Gulf War between the United States and Iraq, the film also explores a fuel depot bombing and how normal life was disrupted during that time.
Along with Dhanush, the film stars Mameetha Baiju in the co-lead role, with KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas and Jayaram in lead roles. GV Prakash Kumar composed the film’s music and background score, while Theni Easwar handled the cinematography, and Srijit Sarang served as editor.
