Vir Das became the first Indian to host International Emmy Awards
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das, who won his first International Emmy last year, will return to the Emmy stage as the host of the International Emmy Awards 2024.
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das has been announced as the host of the 2024 International Emmy Awards by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The awards ceremony will take place on November 25 in New York City.
Das, who was previously nominated for an International Emmy in the comedy category in 2021 and won the award in 2023 for his Netflix comedy special Landing, will return to the International Emmy stage this time as the host. He is the first Indian to host the prestigious ceremony.

Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “With his unique sense of humor and worldview, he now joins the group of iconic gala hosts who have resonated with our global audiences over the years.”

Thanking the International Emmys, Vir Das wrote on Instagram, “As an Indian Emmy host, thank you for your support. I can’t wait to host the @iemmys this year! Madness. Thank you for having me here. So honoured and excited!”
Vir Das, who is a famous stand-up comedian and actor, has fans all over the world. He was recently seen playing the role of a news anchor in Prime Video’s Call Me Bae. He is currently on his international Mind Fool tour.
Vir Das said in a statement, “I am very happy to host the International Emmys. It is a hugely prestigious night to encourage creators around the world who I believe are creating their best content.” He added, “I know firsthand how it can change lives.”
Apart from his stand-up comedy career, Das has created, produced and starred in several series, including the spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, Hasmokh for Netflix and the travel show Jestination Unknown for Prime Video. He has also appeared in films such as Judd Apatow’s The Bubble. Das’ comedy special Landing earned him the 2023 International Emmy Award for Comedy. His previous Netflix special Vir Das: For India was also nominated for an International Emmy in the comedy category.
