Vijay’s father Jan Nayakan wasn’t surprised by the hurdles: He knew, tells producer
Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayakan has faced several hurdles including delays in censor certificate and piracy. His father SA Chandrashekhar revealed that challenges were expected given the political environment and the timing of the elections.
Vijay’s father, veteran actor and director SA Chandrasekhar shared his thoughts on the multiple delays in his son’s farewell film. Jan Naygan Have been facing since January. In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed that his son had anticipated the hurdles the film would face due to the political climate and timing of its release.

The film struggled to obtain a censor certificate and became a target of piracy. Its release has been postponed due to the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections to be held on 23 April.

in an interview with behindwoodsSA Chandrashekhar said that he is not surprised by the challenges the film has faced since January. He said, “We would have been surprised if the film had released without any hiccups.”
“Don’t say you didn’t expect problems. When Vijay signed the film, he told the producer during the audio launch held in Malaysia, ‘Look, you are making a film while I am going into politics. I hope you are aware of the hurdles the film will face. Do you agree with that?’ He knew that he would have to face obstacles in this. That’s why he said so. There was good hope for this. We are not surprised,” he said.
When asked about the film being leaked online, he commented, “Criminal minds first attack the heart and then break the financial path.” Regarding any involvement of opposition parties, he said that such ideas are only imaginary and natural.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jan Naygan Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Mamita Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narayan and Priyamani are in lead roles. The film was initially scheduled to release during the Pongal festival in January, but faced significant delays and legal issues related to censor certificate. Recently, the film was leaked on various pirated sites, adding to the troubles of the filmmakers.
Following a complaint lodged with the Chennai Cyber Crime Police, nine people were arrested in connection with the leak. According to a press release from the cyber crime wing, the main accused is a freelance editor who accessed and stole the footage of the film, which was later shared with the co-accused, resulting in its wide distribution.
