In an exclusive interview with India Today’s Rajdeep Sardesai, Narayan said that Vijay will need some time to settle into the role but he will be able to make a difference.
Narayan said films have played an important role in bringing Vijay closer to the people, but he added that politics and administration are completely different. ‘He will make a great administrator’
Speaking about his association with Vijay and Jan Nayakan, Narayan said, “I am neither a politician nor an experienced filmmaker. In fact, Jan Naygan This is the first Tamil film I am producing. I am a chartered accountant and lawyer by profession. I headed one of the largest listed real-estate companies as CEO for a long time. I like movies. I am fond of films. And I liked Sri Vijay sir as an actor. As soon as he said (this) would be his last film, I said I should be a part of it.
He then reflected on Vijay’s journey and said, “Films played an important role in his life and took him closer to the people, there is no doubt about that. And politics is a different game altogether. As I said, he is not just a politician, he is a leader with great support of the people. Now we come into administration. It is a different ballgame altogether. I am very confident. We need to have a little patience and give him some time to settle down. He is great. Will become an administrator, bringing change.”
Narayan also described Vijay’s working style on the sets as proof of his discipline. “I think after knowing him well, the kind of discipline, dedication and focused approach he follows, he will definitely be a trailblazer. In films, let me tell you about all the days of shooting that we have shot, he is on the sets at 7 in the morning and the first shot is given at 7:30. He is disciplined, a great listener and a focused person. Once he is established, he will be a great administrator. That’s what I hope.” And knowing him, I am confident he will be able to deliver it,” said the producer.
‘People consider them part of their family’
Highlighting his personal equation with Vijay, Narayan said, “One thing about Vijay, seeing him closely – I have worked with him for the last two years – he is an emotion for the people of Tamil Nadu and, irrespective of the rating or review of the film, if you look at them over the years, they have all done very well at the box office because people just want to come to the theatre, see them and celebrate. That’s the emotion.”
He added, “And people consider him a part of their family, like their brother, son, uncle and friend. There is a lot of relatability and feeling when it comes to him. I wouldn’t be surprised to know that there is a Vijay fan in every family in Tamil Nadu.”
