Actor Vijay urged his supporters not to chant the name of his political party TVK during the Jana Nayakan audio launch after Malaysian authorities imposed strict restrictions on political speech and symbols at the entertainment-only event.

Actor Vijay, who recently entered politics by launching Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party, attended the audio launch Jan Naygan in Malaysia on Sunday, where he signaled his fans not to chant TVK during the event. The move came after Malaysian authorities imposed a strict ban on any political speech, symbols or banners at entertainment gatherings, emphasizing adherence to local rules.
A video surfaced online in which Vijay is seen smiling and slowly shaking his head as fans start chanting the name of his political party. He stopped and motioned for them to stop, making clear his intention to follow the guidelines set for the event.

The Malaysian police had earlier made its stand clear. Chief Assistant Commissioner of Cheras District Police, Adil Bolhassan, said, “The permission was given only for an entertainment program and should not be used for any political message.”
“The ban includes all forms of political expression, including speeches, symbols, banners, paraphernalia, movements, convoys and live broadcasts of political messages in the concert venue or its surrounding areas,” Bolhausen added.
Event organizers reiterated their commitment to the restrictions. Chief Executive Officer of Malik Streams Corporation, Datuk Abdul Malik Dashtigir said Jan Naygan The rules will be strictly followed in the concert. He “confirmed that the Thalapathi Thiruvizha concert will follow the given rules and will be purely an entertainment programme.”
