The trailer of Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video was released a few days ago. Since then, a certain section of the internet felt that the film might have been inspired by Jake Kasdan’s film Sex Tape. Now, in an interview with PTI, VVKWWV director Raaj Shaandilyaa has rubbished all such notions and said that there is no ‘sex’ in his Hindi comedy.
Raj said, “I was told by one of our writers that in that film their video gets viral on the internet. In our film the video is made by the couple and they lose the CD due to their carelessness.” He further said that the characters in his story are different and it has nothing to do with the sex tape. Raj said, “I have not even seen the sex tape. I was not inspired by it, rather I was inspired by life and the people around me.”
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala video is co-written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced under T-Series, Balaji Motion Pictures, Wakao Films and Kathawachak Films. Apart from Rajkummar and Tripti, the comedy also stars Vijay Raj, Mallika Sherawat, Mast Ali, Archana Puran Singh, Mukesh Tiwari, Saharsh Kumar Shukla, Archana Patel, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania and Ashwini Kalsekar in pivotal roles.

Raaj Shaandilyaa said in the same interview that he is working on a sequel to his upcoming film, which will be based on the early days of the internet. “Where this film ends, we will get a sequel, which will be a story set 10-15 years later, when the internet has arrived. We have written the story. I will shoot this film after making another film,” Raaj said.
For those who don’t know, the inspiration for Vicky Vidya… came from co-writer Yusuf Ali Khan, with the script starting to take shape in 2018. Raj said he wanted to work with Rajkummar Rao for a long time, but the casting of Tripti Dimri happened while looking for a fresh pair and she was signed for the film much before the Animal incident.
Vicky Vidya ka Woh Wala video is all set to release in theatres on 11th October 2024.
