Actor Sonu Sood has reacted to the controversy over BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut’s remarks on Gen Z protesters, calling it “shameful” and saying youth should be treated with respect as they are the ones who shape the success of public figures. Speaking to reporters during a press conference on Wednesday, Sonu said that he had not initially heard Kangana’s comments, but he stressed that public support ultimately decides the status of a person, irrespective of his profession.

Her comments come after Kangana’s social media post on Gen Z protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar and other places in Delhi. criticized online. In those posts, he described the conduct and language of the protesters as “nausea-inducing” and called them “generation gutters”, to which many public figures and social media users objected.

Sonu said, “I have not heard his statement. But I think it is the youth who make actors and it is they who help you reach this position.” He said, “As long as they stand with you, you will keep moving forward. If they are not with you, it becomes difficult. So everyone should take it along.”

Reflecting on the relationship between public figures and the people who support them, he said, “Whatever your profession is, whether you are an actor, a doctor, or anything else, your existence in this world matters only as long as people are connected to you.”

When a reporter told him that Kangana had allegedly called Gen Z “Generation Gutter”, Sonu said, “If she has said that, I think it is very shameful. It should not have been said.” He urged people in public life to be careful about the words they use, saying, “There is a saying, ‘Tol mol ke bol’ (Weigh your words before you speak). It is very important to think carefully before speaking because the public is another form of God.”

The controversy started with a series of posts by Kangana reacting to videos of the protests. “I have never seen so much ugliness in one place in my life. These reels Gen Z protests are nauseating. The way they speak and the kind of language they are using… I have never in my life seen everything so disturbing and so vulgar at the same time in every frame,” he further alleged that the protesters were are abusing freedom He enjoyed and was financially dependent on his parents, accusing them of glorifying substance abuse.
