Chiyaan Vikram is all set to return to the big screen with the much-awaited film Veera Dheera Suran: Part 2, which is scheduled to release in 2025. Interestingly, the film’s prequel is also planned to follow suit, and director Arun Kumar has shared insights on this unconventional decision. ,
In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, Arun Kumar explained, “My original idea was completely focused on the sequel. However, as I began writing the film, several back stories emerged. Right now, we don’t need to explore them. It’s like meeting someone for the first time—we first ask them about today, and only then think about their past. Similarly, the film focuses on a particular night.
Comparing it to his previous film, Chitta, the director elaborated that it is challenging to define a character through the events of just one night. In Chittha, the hero’s journey spans a significant time period, offering a slice of his life. This prompted the decision to explore more stories through prequels, which would delve into the previous stories in more depth.
Sharing more details about Veera Dheera Suran: Part 2, Arun Kumar revealed that the film is an action thriller with a strong emotional core. He said, “The genre is an action thriller, but there is also a lot of drama in it, presented in a simple narrative. It is an emotional film that explores the themes of violence, forgiveness and guilt. (Translated from Tamil).
Chiyaan saw Vikram for the last time. Ranjith was seen in the director Thangalan, where he played the role of a fiery tribal leader who takes on a witch to aid the British. The action and thriller film also starred Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan in lead roles.
Veera Dheera Suran: Part 2 will star Vikram in the lead role, with director Arun Kumar (Chittha fame) in the lead. The film also stars actors SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu (making his Tamil debut) in lead roles. Additionally, Dushara Vijayan and Siddiqui are part of the supporting cast, while the filming of the prequel is yet to begin.
The music for the film is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, his fourth collaboration with Vikram after Deiva Thirumagal, Thandavam and Thangalan.
