During the same event, Varun also clarified that Baby John is not a direct remake of the original (Theri), but an adaptation with significant changes. He told, ‘When Atlee came up with this film, there was a reason behind it and he said that we had to change the geography of the film a lot. We have to use it as an adaptation and not really a proper remake, and I think that’s what’s been done.”
He further said that audiences expecting frame-by-frame entertainment from Theri may be disappointed. “As you see, there are a lot of frames and a lot of different angles to the story. So, if anyone comes in expecting a book-by-book remake, they will be disappointed because the movie is not that. This is an adaptation. We’re not running away from that, but it’s an adaptation,” he said.
Directed by Kelleys, Baby John is produced by Atlee. The film stars Varun Dhawan in a powerful avatar and also stars Jackie Shroff, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. The special presence of Salman Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Sanya Malhotra adds to its appeal.
