Must read

Varanasi is turning out to be one of the most awaited projects currently under filming. Even the smallest of updates are catching the attention of the audience, and the latest buzz seems to be about the upcoming filming schedule of the movie. As reported on February 24, the stars of the SS Rajamouli film have left for Georgia, where they will shoot ‘important’ scenes according to Gulte. A separate report in Deccan Chronicle claimed that the director will aim for action sequences between the hero and the antagonist.

Georgia’s filming schedule begins in Varanasi

As earlier rumoured, superstar Mahesh Babu was seen boarding a flight to Georgia in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The actor’s team accompanied him at the airport as he left for the next filming location, Georgia. It is reported that the filmmaker, along with DOP PS Vinod, decided the shooting locations a few months ago and will now take the actors there for a period of 12 to 14 days.

It seems like the makers are aiming to shoot important portions of the film during these two weeks. Buzz has claimed that ‘large-scale action sequences and important scenes’ starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran will be shot during this period. It is not known whether the lead actress, Priyanka Chopra, will join the crew during this phase of shooting; However, this seems unlikely due to their ongoing promotions for The Bluff and the schedules focusing on the parts of the two lead actors.

Directed by SS Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu will play the role of Rudra in Varanasi, with some reports suggesting a dual role as Lord Ram or Prerna. Meanwhile, Kumbha will be Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character sitting in a wheelchair. Priyanka Chopra has been selected for the role of Mandakini.

The filming is expected to be completed by June this year in Varanasi and after that the focus will be on post-production work, which includes huge VFX editing and more. The film has already announced its release date as April 7, 2027 and had earlier held a big title unveiling event at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
