Biju Menon and Joju George’s Valathu Vasathe Kallan released in theaters on January 30.

Malayalam director Jeethu Joseph established himself as a creator to be reckoned with after the stupendous success of the Mohanlal-starrer. Drishyam. he followed it scene 2Which managed to show its magic despite its OTT release. after DrishyamJeethu Joseph’s films reached beyond Kerala and the quality of his work was always in the news. While some succeeded, others failed to impress. Is Valathu Vasathe Kallan Managed to do the trick?

CI Antony Xavier (Biju Menon) is a worried police officer bound by an unforgiving system. He has been assigned the responsibility of investigating a missing woman. The missing woman’s father, Samuel (Joju George), has no trust in Javier. However, a secret plan by Samuel lands Antony Xavier in trouble.

Director Jeethu Joseph’s brand of cinema always depends on more than one twist. Valathu Vasathe Kallan Cut from the same cloth. The film, which runs two hours and 18 minutes, has many interesting ideas. The Missing Case sets up a solid story that can deliver many twists and turns.

However, this is where Valathu Vasathe Kallan fails. The initial set-up keeps you hooked, but as the story progresses, the twists and turns are too obvious and hardly organic. Although the film reminds Drishyam, Memories and other jeetu joseph movies, Valathu Vasathe Kallan Because of how awesome the twists are, it is not on par with the previous films.

One of the interesting aspects of Valathu Vasathe Kallan This is the early part of it where Xavier (Biju Menon) and his son Philip Antony (KR Gokul) visit a therapist to talk separately about their unresolved trauma. This could have made for a solid subplot that could have added nuances and layers to the film. But what remains is a plot point that is introduced and then largely abandoned, barely scratching the surface of its potential.

Valathu Vasathe Kallan Could have benefited from stronger characterization of the lead. Here, the police officers, who are in charge of the investigation, hardly display intelligence. Thrillers with goofy cops are always a recipe for failure.

Joju George in the role of a kindly father seeking revenge is one of the positive aspects of the film. Biju Menon got a powerful role. However, the characterization of the police could have been stronger. Lena plays a grieving parent and delivers some impressive moments. The rest of the supporting cast do not get strong characters to make their mark.

Valathu Vasathe KallanWith its shortcomings, it fails to be a solid thriller and ends up being a mediocre crime drama.
