A former teacher at St. Mary Magdalen School in Wilmington, Delaware has been accused of sending pornographic photos to a former student. New York Post, Alanis Pinion, a 24-year-old eighth-grade teacher, was arrested Thursday by New Castle County police.
According to New Castle County Police, Pinion regularly communicated with her students on Snapchat and allegedly behaved inappropriately by sending explicit images to one of them.
She was charged with having sex with a child, endangering the welfare of the child, and indecent exposure. Pinion was taken to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to post a $46,000 cash bail.

A spokesperson for St Mary Magdalene School said NBC10 Pinion was a part-time contractor and is no longer affiliated with the school.
“Earlier this week, New Castle County Police contacted the school to inform us of an investigation and ultimately the arrest of a former part-time contract employee who is accused of electronically exchanging inappropriate images with a former student,” the school wrote.
“The contractor successfully completed the required background investigation process prior to his employment. School, parish and our diocese officials cooperated with the police in their investigation. Please be assured that all of us at St. Mary Magdalen Parish and School, along with our partners in the Diocese of Wilmington, always keep the safety of our children and youth as our primary goal,” the school added.
Meanwhile, the police department is concerned there may be other victims who have not yet come forward, according to their statement. Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to contact Detective Daniel Watson.
Last month, a special education teacher at an intermediate school in New Jersey was arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a student, according to authorities. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that Alison Haveman-Niedrach, 43, of Freehold Intermediate School, has been charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
