in an interview with Hindustan TimesUrmila said, “Everyone feels they should do it, so they should do it. What can I say? Cinema never belongs to anyone. In fact, nothing belongs to anyone. The film is no longer yours. Over the years, I have realized that the film is for every person who has seen it and it is mine too. The minute I did it and I put it on celluloid, I became a different person than the girl they are seeing on the screen.”
He further added, “So, thinking obsessively about your roles or something you have done before is actually a bit silly and childish. If someone wants to do it, why not? The more the merrier, but it depends on people how well or well they judge. It is absolutely welcome.”
The actor also discussed the factors behind the success of the original film. He said, “This is not a film made on a very big budget. It was made on a minimal budget. At that time, when the entire industry was very excited about shooting songs in Switzerland, not a single song was shot outside India. Except one song which was shot in Goa, nothing was shot outside Mumbai.”
Urmila explained that what made the film popular among audiences was its story, not its setting or production values. He said, “It shows that the story works in the long run, and the rest of the things are like really beautiful accessories that can make the movie more beautiful and bigger, but it’s not the thing that can save or start any movie.”

The film industry does the same, because a lot of people come to the city and work to make their dreams come true. This represents that.”
She further added, “At that time, I was just trying to do my job to the best of my abilities because I was pitted against two actors who were not only huge stars at the time, but whose films I had seen in my school and was completely infatuated with.”
She further added, “I was actually acting against AR Rahman with some phenomenal music. I was just trying to do my best.”
RangeelaThe film, directed by Ram Gopal Varma and starring Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff, returned to theaters on Friday.
