UPPU Kappurambu Review: Kerthey Suresh starrer entertains political satire, but loses his charm arbitrarily

Kerthi Suresh starrer Uppu Kappurambu is finally here and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The film, which is included as a co-leed, is a social comedy, starring the late Malayalam director IV Sasi’s son Annie IV Sasi.

Is a satirical political comedy worth your time? There is a Pinkvilla review here to help understand this.

Plot

The fictional village is inhabited by Jaipurum, unique characters and its own different superstitions and practices. Apoorva (Karthi Suresh) inherited the title of the head of the village after his father’s untimely death.

However, he is suffering from social anxiety and is not interested in public positions. As soon as luck is there, as soon as she takes charge, she meets with an unusual dilemma – the village cemetery is running out of burial spots.

As she attempts to resolve the issue, with the help of village Gravadigar, Chinna (Suha), as well as two influential, power-lung individuals, Bhimayya and Madhubbu, dealing with the issues raised by Bhimayya and Madhubu, makes the story of the story.

Good

Undoubtedly, Uppu Kappurambu is the author of the film, Vasant Mringanti. Through his world-building, the writer Chitti tells the story of Jaipuram with such authenticity that viewers do not question the characteristics of the characters.

In addition, the author also performs a great job with characterization, gives each character its unique quirks, which gives them a distinct identity in a densely populated village.

The film also comments on several socio-political issues, including misunderstandings, feminism, communal division, caste and dynasty politics, patriarch and more. However, it is microscopically woven and does not feel compelled in the story.

Ani IV Sasi’s direction also does its share in bringing the village to life. The village, its characters and conditions are all in the sinks, which is harmful when working on a political satire.

After writing and direction, it is necessary to mention the film’s editing by Sreejith Sarang. The editor has done a great job, brought the film together.

Production and art designer Mr. Nagendra Tangla, Prasad Penummy and Lakshmi Tamang also deserve special mention. His efforts to bring the fictional village into life were clarified on screen and it could not be abolished.

The cinematography of the film does exactly what it should do, nothing more than this, nothing less. Diwakar Mani has done an innocent work by crank the camera for the film. The same can be said about the background score of the film, which is composed by Swikar Agasthi.

While the music fits in most places, during several parts, it feels out of place, as it is allowing the audience to feel a certain feeling.

bad

The biggest issue of Ani IV Sasi’s UPPU Kappurambu is the sound design of the film. The sound design makes a lot of efforts, and is quite reminded of comedy in the 90s and early 2000s. It was very loud, not in the context of audio, but in terms of quality.

Furthermore, while the film’s writing was the most important positive aspect, it would not be unfair to mention that the film follows the radical end of the same socio-political films towards the climax.

This is something that we have previously seen in films like Yogi Babu’s Mandela or even Rajkumar Rao-Starrer Newton. There is also a temporary change in style from comedy to drama, during that time the film is promoted.

It is worth noting that these flaws are minuscule in 2-hour and uppu Kappurambu has 16 minutes of runtime.

Display

For performance in Uppu Kappurambu, the primary name which should be mentioned is Suha, who portrayed the male lead, Chinna. Chinna is a Jovial Graavedigger who negligence with the deceased to reduce his continuous monotonity.

Additionally, they find out that their mother does not have much time left to live and struggles to fulfill her last wish. There is a lot of depth for Chinna’s character, such incomplete desires, desires that she feels that she can never be true.

Suhas has brilliantly portrayed the character, to bring the audience tears in an instant and to tickle their funny bones next time.

For Kerathi Suresh, the actress has done justice to the role handed over to her. While it is understood that satire often requires a level of eccentricity, its performance at the beginning of the film is very eccentric, at the point that it cries to the audience.

However, once the actress decreases in the character, around the 30 -minute mark, she becomes a pleasure to see, as well as adding depth to the character of Apoorva with her bizarre antics.

Bebu Mohan and Shatru are also a special mention in the form of bheemayya and Madhubabu. The pair, which can be considered as “primary anti” in the film, is self-centered, powerful rich people who are unable to accept that the head of the village is a woman and is expected to take a post herself.

Both actors do a good job in their depiction of rival rival feudal lords. Other actors of Uppu Karppurambu have also done a great job, portraying their characters.

Decision

Uppu Karppurambu is undoubtedly one of the best political satire coming out in recent times. Despite its flaws, the film stands out for its outstanding characters and subtlety with which it addresses social issues.

The film is worthy of reaching not only for its technical aspects, but also for the message that it expresses how it expresses. Uppu Kappurambu is guaranteed not only to make you laugh out loud, but also indicates you to inspire you to think about many socio-political situations in your daily life.
