Janhvi Kapoor’s film ‘Uljhan’ earned only Rs 60 lakh on its first Monday at the box office. This is the lowest collection ever in a single day. According to trade website reports, the film’s performance has been disappointing, earning Rs 5.50 crore in four days. Saconilc,

‘Ulj’ was not expected to have a big opening anyway. However, it was dependent on at least some decent appreciation to keep its hold at the box office. At its current pace, the film will be over in no time.

  • Friday: Rs 1.15 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 1.75 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 2 crore
  • Monday: Rs 60 lakh
  • Total: Rs 5.50 crore

The thriller drama faced competition at the box office from ‘Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha’, which also performed equally poorly. Like ‘Uljhan’, it was also rejected by the audience and it did a net business of only Rs 7 crore in four days in India, which is quite low for a film starring Ajay Devgn in the lead.

Both ‘Uljhan’ and ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ would have done well if they had got even a slight edge in terms of word-of-mouth. Ahead of the release of big Bollywood films like ‘Stree 2’, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Veda’ on Independence Day, these films also had a good 10-day window to perform well at the box office.
