Streaming giant Netflix has announced an animation series based on Midnight Sun, a Twilight retelling told from Edward Cullen’s perspective. The original film franchise starred Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Lionsgate Television will produce the series. It is already producing a TV project on it, which was announced last year.

Sinead Daly has been tapped to direct and adapt the novel (Midnight Sun). She will also executive-produce alongside author Stephenie Meyer, Meghan Hibbett of Fickle Fish Films, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Entertainment, and Erik Feig and Sammy Kim Falvey of Picturestart.

In addition to Midnight Sun, Lionsgate TV is also developing a John Wick sequel TV series, which is currently in production.

Twilight was a love story that revolved around the characters of Edward and Bella. Edward was a vampire, while Bella was an ordinary human. These characters were played by Hollywood stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart respectively.
