Twenty one collected Rs. Earned 1.25 crores on first Monday, which is a decline of 60 percent from Friday. The collections on Friday were already low and on top of that this is a huge decline. Running total of twenty one is Rs. Has reached. Earned Rs 19 crore in India in five days of theatrical run.
Agastya Nanda’s film performed poorly over the weekend itself, registering mediocre trends and failing to show the required growth, and has now gone down to a much lower level. This significant decline on Monday points towards its dramatic end soon. There will be some collections as ticket prices will be affordable due to discount day tomorrow, but no miracles can be expected here. Ikkis is looking to surrender in its opening week itself, which is worth around Rs. 21 crore to Rs. Earning 22 crores at Indian box office.
Apart from Agastya Nanda, Twenty One also marks the acting debut of Akshay Kumar’s niece Simar Bhatia. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the military drama received mixed reviews as well as criticism of its narrative, which ultimately affected its overall box office potential. Twenty One would lose most of its performance due to new releases in its second weekend. If the film had registered better trends and word-of-mouth, it might have had a chance in the long run.
The first film of the year did not perform well, but then there was a perception in the industry that the first release of the year does not do well. Of course, this is just a superstition and is not the reason why this film or other films in the past have not been successful. Nevertheless, Twenty One has now joined that list.
