On completing 25 years in films, Tusshar Kapoor recalls working with Kareena Kapoor in his first film Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. The actor said that her confidence, spontaneity and cooperation on the set left a lasting impression on him.

Actor Tusshar Kapoor recently completed 25 years in the film industry. Marking this milestone, the actor looks back at the beginning of his journey and recalls sharing screen space with Kareena Kapoor in her debut film i have something to say (2001). Reflecting on the early days in an exclusive conversation with India Today, Tusshar spoke of being amazed by Kareena’s confidence, ease on the set and fearless personality, admitting that she already carried herself like a veteran while he was still trying to find his feet as a newcomer.

Talking about Kareena, Tusshar said that she is one of the most entertaining actors he has worked with. He said, “Kareena’s confidence is something else. She is one of the most entertaining people to work with and she is not afraid of anything at all. She is like a hero.”

The actor said that there is a lot to learn from Kareena’s confidence and the way she markets herself. “There are no bad hair days for him,” he said.

Tusshar praised his co-star’s screen presence and confidence, saying, “She carries herself with a certain flair, no matter what film she is in or what character she is playing. There are people I have worked with who I have really looked up to and admired a lot, and Kareena is definitely one of them.”

Recalling his early days, the 49-year-old actor said he was amazed by the confidence and maturity he showed despite being only one film old in the industry, adding that he carried himself like a seasoned veteran from the beginning. He added, “Maybe it comes from growing up watching Karisma Kapoor, or maybe it’s just her nature, but she has always been a very confident person.”

Recalling his first conversation with crew actors during the production of i have something to sayTusshar revealed that despite knowing each other socially, it took time for the two to connect on the sets due to their contrasting personalities.

The actor admitted that while he was a shy newcomer trying to find his feet, Kareena was already displaying the confidence and ease of a seasoned professional.

Tusshar said, “She knew her lines instantly, knew how to face the camera without any fear and was completely familiar with everyone on the set, be it spot boys or crew members. She knew who was doing what.”

Their personalities on the set were completely different, so much so that Tusshar admitted that they were initially estranged.

He said, “We knew each other socially before we started working together. But when we actually met on the set and started interacting, we realized that we have very different personalities. She is extroverted and I am introverted. So we initially drifted apart because I am not very talkative, especially when I am working, and that was my first film.”

He concluded by praising Kareena for being supportive, and said that her warmth ultimately helped them bond on the set. Later both of them acted together live just for me (2002).
