The film ‘Tu Ya Main’ starring Adarsh Gaurav and Shanaya Kapoor in lead roles had a slow start at the box office. As per estimates, the horror survival thriller has collected around Rs. 55 lakh to Rs. 60 lakhs on the first day in India.
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the film should aim to do well on Valentine’s Day. Although it is not a holiday, still it is a slightly profitable day from business point of view. Since Tu Ya Main targets Gen Z and young urban audience, this could help it gain some good traction. The opening weekend of Tu Ya Main was around Rs. 2 to Rs. 3 crore, depending on how it pans out on Saturday and Sunday.
The survival thriller is clashing with a relatively bigger film, Shahid Kapoor starrer O’Romeo. With no star value, the film’s screen count is comparatively low. However, if it manages to grow with word of mouth publicity, it may get a respectable performance.
So far, Tu Ya Main has received a mixed response from the audience, which may be a matter of concern for the makers. However, the saving grace is that it received better reviews than its rival releases, which may help it in the long run.
For those unaware, the film Tu Ya Main is the story of a young modern couple’s survival against a deadly crocodile. Backed by Color Yellow Productions and Bhanusali Studios, the film is directed by Bejoy Nambiar. It will be interesting to see how the film performs over the weekend.
