Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is all set to hit the theaters in a few hours. This quirky romantic comedy drama kicked off its advance bookings, and sold 80,000 tickets across the top two national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, on the opening day. External factors support a large portion of these advances.
Backed by Dharma Productions, the Kartik Aryan and Ananya Panday starrer will get the benefit of the Christmas Day holiday, which could give it a boost. According to Pinkvilla’s forecast, the film is expected to open between Rs 20 lakh. 5 Crore to Rs. 8 crores. Since external factors are present, the number of opening days may now increase.
The biggest challenge for the film is Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. Since both the holdover releases are performing well, they also garnered a good share of the Christmas Day weekend performance, which ultimately limited the box office potential of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
The rom-com genre in general is finding it difficult to attract audiences in the post-pandemic times. The biggest opener of this genre in the last few years was Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, which also did not perform well at the box office. Considering the issue of genre, the fate of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri largely depends on its word-of-mouth and opening weekend performance. If the film is successful in impressing the audience then its performance will also see immediate improvement. Moreover, the film may do well till the New Year holiday period.
