Trump agrees to debate with Kamala Harris, outlines specific rules

Ahead of the presidential elections in the United States, former US President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has accepted a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, and outlined specific terms and rules for the debate.

Sharing a post on social media platform Truth, Trump said, “I have reached an agreement with the Radical Left Democrats to debate Comrade Kamala Harris. It will be broadcast live on ABC Fake News, the worst and most inappropriate newscast ever, on Tuesday, September 10th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”

This comes after Trump suggested over the weekend that he might cancel the debate because of a dispute between the two campaigns over rules.

Trump said on Truth Social that he and Harris had agreed to follow the rules he and President Joe Biden adopted during the June 27 CNN debate, including not having a live audience and muting microphones when candidates are not speaking.

“The rules will be the same as the last CNN debate, which worked out just fine for everyone except maybe Crooked Joe Biden. The debate will be “standing up,” and candidates cannot bring notes or “cheat sheets.” We’ve also been assured by ABC that this will be a “fair and equitable” debate and that no side will be given questions in advance (not Donna Brazile!).”

The Republican presidential candidate further said that the radical left does not agree on a third debate. The post said, “Harris will not agree to the FoxNews debate on September 4, but that date will be kept open in case she changes her mind or flip flops, as she has done on every one of her long-held and cherished policy beliefs. The radical left does not agree on a potential third debate, which would go to NBC Fake News. God bless America!”

Notably, Biden’s rambling and inconsistent performance in a debate with Trump on CNN in June ultimately led to his exit from the presidential race.

Harris joined the presidential race in July after US President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the election race.

If 59-year-old Harris is elected president, she will become the first woman in history to become US president. Vice President Harris is the second woman to be nominated for president by a major political party.
