Top 2nd week ever at Hindi box office: Dhurandhar takes No. 1 spot by huge margin

Dhurandhar has set a new benchmark for the biggest second weekend ever for a Hindi film, surpassing Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 by a huge margin of Rs. 63.50 crores. The espionage action drama earned Rs. Rs 242 crore in its second week. Earning of 22 crores on second Thursday. Interestingly, no other film could ever cross the Rs 1 crore mark. 200 crore nett mark in the second week. Pushpa 2 held this record for over a year, when it collected Rs. 178 crores in Hindi, followed by Vicky Kaushal.

Even the big guns kept crossing the Rs. 20 crore mark for the 14th consecutive day, which is an all-time record in itself. Now in the third week the film will compete with Avatar: Fire and Ash.

This is the fifth instance since 2023 when the second week box office record of a Bollywood film has been reset. In contrast, the record for the first week remains unchanged from September 2023. This highlights an interesting change in trading dynamics from the previous decade, when first week records were a more common occurrence, while second and subsequent week records were rarely challenged. Consider 3 Idiots, whose second-week record stood intact for four years, while the first-week record was reset five times during that period.
