The broadcast will then move on to a pre-recorded segment showing Cruz flying from France to LA and then skydiving into the Hollywood sign. He will then hand over the flag to athletes, including a cyclist, skateboarder and volleyball player, who will wave it around the host city for the 2028 Games.

According to a report TMZThe sequence was shot in early March. Pictures of him descending from the Hollywood sign were all over the internet, but no one had a clue that it could be related to the Olympics.

The same report also states that the main person behind this is Tom Cruise. He approached the International Olympic Committee with the idea of doing a series of stunts to link the Paris and Los Angeles Games.

The Paris 2024 organising committee has not revealed details about the ceremony. Paris 2024 artistic director Thomas Jolly aims to transform the Stade de France into a concert hall with more than 100 artists.

“It is a very visual, very choreographic, very acrobatic show, with an operatic dimension to give a great visual fresco and say goodbye to the athletes from all over the world,” said Jolly. He added, “Let us all together make this evening a memorable and conscious celebration, honoring the past and embracing the future.”

Cruz, who carried the Olympic torch in Los Angeles in 2004, competed in the women’s gymnastics and swimming events in the first week of the Paris Games.

Representatives for Cruz have not yet responded to requests for comment.
