with Jan Naygan Finally set to release in theaters on July 23, director H Vinoth has said that the film should not be seen as Thalapathy Vijay’s last film as an actor, but as CM Vijay’s debut film. The filmmaker said that Vijay’s political journey has changed the way the audience views the project.
In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, Vinoth said, “Whether this is really his last film, no one can say for sure. But you can say that this is CM Vijay sir’s first film.” The comment came during the promotion of Jana Nayagan as Vijay’s final film before his full-time entry into politics. The film, which was initially scheduled to release on Pongal, faced several delays, including certification issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

By the time the release was finalized, Vijay had taken oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. As a result, Jan NayganWhat was once touted as his farewell film as an actor has now become his first theatrical release as Chief Minister, adding to the significance of Vinoth’s comment.

He said, “This film is not just some commercial film. It is actually an important political film. It is not made to glorify Vijay sir. It talks about very sensitive politics.” He hoped the film would encourage audiences to engage in discussion about their ideas.
Filmmaker added title Jan Naygan Has double meaning. While this refers to Vijay as the leader of the people, it also represents the hero’s role in protecting democracy within the film’s story. According to Vinoth, the story focuses on the conflict between those trying to undermine democracy and those fighting to preserve it.
Jan Nayakan stars Vijay along with Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamita Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narayan, Priyamani and Nassar. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on July 23 after receiving an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
