US President Joe Biden on Saturday condemned the shooting incident that injured his election rival Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, which reportedly also left at least one person dead.
Minutes after the Republican candidate was carried off the stage by the Secret Service, blood pouring from his face, political leaders on both sides condemned the violence.
In a statement shortly after the event, Biden said, “I’m glad to hear he is safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family, and everyone at the rally, as we await further information.”

“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. We must stand together as a nation and condemn it.”
His former boss, Barack Obama, echoed his words in a statement on Christmas, saying “there is no place in our democracy for political violence.”
“While we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all feel relieved that former President Trump was not seriously injured, and we should use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics,” the Democrat said.
Former President George W. Bush condemned the “cowardly” attack.
“Laura and I are grateful that President Trump is safe following this cowardly attack. And we commend the men and women of the Secret Service for their quick response,” he said in a statement.
“I am horrified by what happened at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe. There is no place for political violence in our country,” US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, wrote on Twitter.
Top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell also tweeted on X: “Tonight, all Americans are grateful that President Trump appears to be okay following the disgusting attack on a peaceful rally. Violence has no place in our politics.”
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose husband was attacked at home in 2022, also tweeted on X, writing, “As someone whose family has been the victims of political violence, I know firsthand that political violence of any kind has no place in our society.”
She further said, “I thank God that former President Trump is safe. As we learn more about this horrific event, let us pray that everyone who attended the former president’s rally today remains safe.”
Tech billionaire Elon Musk said Saturday that he “fully” supports Trump following the violence at the rally.
“I fully support President Trump and wish him a speedy recovery,” Musk wrote on Twitter. He also shared a video of Trump pumping his fist while being led away by Secret Service officers.
