The S&P 500, Nasdaq jumped more than 1% on hopes of a government restart

Wall Street’s major indexes opened higher on Monday, with the release of economic data stalling and concerns over the state of the economy weighing on risk sentiment, aided by signs of progress in ending the record US government shutdown in Washington.

The Dow Jones rose 237.58 points, or 0.51%, to 47,224.68, the S&P 500 added 68.62 points, or 1.02%, to 6,797.43, while the Nasdaq gained 382.25 points, or 1.636,38%.
