Our time in office is filled with delicious food memories. From tea breaks to enjoying lunch with your favourite colleagues, food from the office pantry often brings joy to our workplace. However, someone received a warning letter from HR for stealing coffee sachets, sugar sachets, Maggi packets and even disposable plates and forks from the office pantry. Well, that’s what happened to a friend of a LinkedIn user, as claimed in a post. The incident was shared on social media platform LinkedIn, where the user posted a screenshot of an HR email. It said, “Several of your colleagues have also reported that you and Shreya take coffee sachets, sugar sachets, Maggi, forks and disposable plates from the pantry for personal use. Please note, stealing products from office property is strictly prohibited.”

The user claimed that his friend was also warned about spending time on Instagram, Netflix and shopping sites. HR said, “It has come to our attention that you have been using company time, electricity and internet to visit websites unrelated to your job responsibilities, particularly websites like Instagram, Netflix, jobs and also, you spent 6 hours on AJIO last Friday, May 31. Indulging in personal activities during work hours is not in line with our expectations. Please remember, we gave you a casual warning just last week when you were caught watching Babil Khan’s interview while on duty.”

Many people shared their reactions in the comments section after seeing the post.

One user wrote, “I think HR was more hurt by seeing the job portal than stealing coffee or something… Stealing company resources – it’s normal… Since it’s a hybrid model, how can it perform.”

Another added: “This friend should be so grateful he hasn’t been fired yet.”

Many wrote, “I fully support HR here!”

“The irony of the ‘we are a family’ culture,” one comment read.

Someone said, “Engaging in theft, regardless of the level, is unacceptable behavior that undermines trust and integrity in the workplace.”
