The performance of the vice presidential candidate is set on the third day of the Democratic Convention

  1. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will accept Kamala Harris’ nomination to become the White House’s vice presidential running mate.
  2. The former National Guard officer is making his mark as one of Democrats’ most effective communicators, and shortly before Harris was ousted, he criticized Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance as “weirdos” in a video that went viral.
  3. The chemistry between Harris and Walz, and the noisy energy generated at their rallies, is helping boost Democratic Party hopes that they can beat Trump in November.
  4. The other day, Michelle Obama highlighted Kamala Harris’ background, calling her multi-racial roots “the embodiment of the stories we talk about in this country.” In response to Donald Trump’s jibes, she said, “His story is your story. It’s my story.”
  5. His counter-attacks were brief but forceful, and included a sarcastic dig at the twice-impeached former president for running for “one of those black jobs.”
  6. Her husband and former US President Barack Obama took a second dig at Trump, saying: “This is a 78-year-old billionaire who hasn’t stopped whining about his problems since he stepped down from his golden elevator nine years ago,” Mr Obama said. “It’s been a constant complaint, conspiracy theories and grievance that’s only gotten worse since he’s afraid of losing to Kamala.”
  7. Kamala Harris will give a big speech on the last day of the event on August 22, but one of the notable speakers tomorrow will be her husband, Doug Emhoff, a successful attorney. If Harris wins, Emhoff will be the first “First Gentleman” of the United States.
  8. Mr. Emhoff praised his wife, saying, “She brings both joy and tenacity to the job. At this moment in our country’s history, she is the perfect president.”
  9. The convention served as a farewell event for Joe Biden, who withdrew his nomination in an unprecedented move in modern US electoral history. In 1968, President Lyndon B Johnson announced in the midst of the Vietnam War that he would not seek re-election.
  10. On day one, President Biden criticized Mr. Trump’s “America First” doctrine, which he said had damaged the country’s global image, and contradicted his administration’s efforts to unite Europe and counter Russian aggression.
