‘The man, the myth, the legend’: Daisy Edgar-Jones praises Twisters co-star Glen Powell and his dog Brisket

Daisy Edgar-Jones is no stranger to her co-star’s rising fame. Glen Powell and Edgar-Jones star in the stormy revival, Twisters, which premieres on July 19, 2024. Ahead of the premiere, the stars opened up about their experience filming Twisters, which was further enhanced by the actor’s pet dog, Brisket.

Edgar-Jones praised his co-star and expressed his gratitude to Brisket, whom he labeled as a comfort animal for the entire Twisters team. He also suggested an alternative name for the film, inspired by Brisket.

The 26-year-old actor hailed his Twisters co-star, Glen Powell, 35, as “a person, a myth, a legend,” and declared this week during a press junket for Twisters in the wake of his rising fame, “It’s a Glen Powell summer.”

They also couldn’t stop praising the actor’s pet dog, Brisket. The terrier-poodle Twisters was a constant presence on the film’s set, often mingling with the cast and crew, especially during night shoots. “He’s a beautiful guy. He chases storms. He’s been chasing storms with us,” Daisy Edgar-Jones told People on July 17.

However, when it comes to Powell’s Hollywood talent, the Normal People star claimed that the brisket definitely added a “taste of joy, fun and frolic,” but the adorable pup can’t take away all the credit for the actor’s charm.

The claw-footed star has attended numerous red-carpet events and movie promotions alongside his A-lister father, while he’s also a beloved member and central part of Twisters. So much so that Jones joked that the movie should be titled “Bristers.”

Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, tells the story of storm chasers Tyler Owens and Kate Cooper who risk their lives to test a new storm-tracking system in Oklahoma, while facing several deadly challenges along the way. The film is a revival of the original 1996 film of the same name and attempts to bring back the natural disaster genre.

When did Glen Powell adopt his pet dog Brisket?

The Hit Man star adopted Brisket, a terrier-poodle mix breed, while filming Twisters. He rescued him as a tiny puppy from LA-based rescue organization Label Foundation and announced the new addition to his family in July 2023, according to Teen Vogue.

Speaking to Hoda Kotb about his sudden decision to become a dog dad, Powell explained that he was going through a breakup at the time and just felt like adopting a dog. “I was in Enid, Oklahoma, I remember sitting in a cafe in Enid, Oklahoma — I thought of naming Brisket Enid…he’s been the greatest addition to my life,” Powell explained in an interview with Today.com.

Powell didn’t expect Brisket to play a key role in Twisters. Not wanting to leave his puppy alone at home, the actor began bringing him to set, prompting a heartwarming response from the crew.

Highlighting this, the actor said that Twisters and brisket “tied together” in a wonderful way, and the pet eventually became an unofficial mascot for the film.

Powell further explained how Brisket brought so much joy to the entire Twisters crew and people from every department got along with him and spent time with him. He cited co-star Edgar-Jones as a witness to the changes Brisket brought to Powell’s life after his adoption.

Twisters is now in theaters.
