Malayalam actor Vinci Alashius recalled a disturbing experience on the set with a drug co-star. Without the actor’s name, he said that he has decided not to work with actors using drugs. This led to discussion online, after which he explained that the decision allegedly stems from unpleasant experiences with co-stars with drugs.

In the 67th operating year of KCym Ernakulam-Angamaly major Archdiocese, held at the Pallipuram Church in Kerala, he said, “If I know someone is using drugs, I will not work with them in any film.”

His statement shared many people and provoked a debate online. Vinci then shared a video in which he talked about an experience, working with an actor who was allegedly on drugs.

Without naming the actor or film, he said, “When I was part of a film, I had an experience with the lead actor. He used drugs and behaved in a way that was completely inappropriate, making it very difficult to continue working with him.”

Vinci claimed that a white matter was spreading from the actor’s mouth, which confirmed his suspicion about him using drugs.

“During a visual exercise, some white table fell from his mouth. It was very clear that he was using drugs on the set, which created a nuisance for everyone all around. It’s one thing to use drugs in personal life, but when it affects your professional environment, it becomes unacceptable,” he commented.

Vinci said that such incidents inspired a decision that assures safety at the work place: “I don’t want to work in this way. I do not want to work with someone who is not conscious of the influence of their actions on others. It is a decision based on my personal experience and I stand by it.”

Talking about social media reactions, she said that she could lose in films by her opportunities. “Perhaps because of this decision, I can’t find many opportunities to move forward in films. But I want to say it openly:” If I know someone is using drugs, I will not act with them in any film, “she said.

Vinci Alashius’s statement comes at a time when reports of alleged drug abuse in the Malayalam film industry made headlines.

Vinci Elosius made his debut in 2019 with ‘Vikthi’. She won the Kerala State Award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Rekha’. Some of his famous films include ‘Jan Gana Mana’, ‘Saudi Velka’, ‘Padmini’ and ‘Pajanjan Pranayam’. He was last seen in ‘Marivillin Gopurgal’, in which he played Meenakshi.
