The entire nation is heartbroken: Sonakshi Sinha shares CJP protest photos
Sonakshi Sinha shared pictures from the July 20 CJP protest and reiterated her support for Sonam Wangchuk. Her post came after police removed Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar and calls for education reforms and accountability.
Actress Sonakshi Sinha has once again expressed her support for the ongoing protest by education reformer Sonam Wangchuk and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). On Tuesday, July 21, he shared a series of photos on Instagram from the July 20 protests and highlighted the violence that occurred at the demonstration.
While sharing the pictures, Sonakshi wrote, “20th July.” Many people’s bones were broken and the hearts of an entire nation were broken. Remember. (July 20… Many people’s bones were broken, and the entire nation’s heart was broken. Remember that).”

Sonakshi’s post comes a day after the violent clash during CJP’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march in Central Delhi. As protesters attempted to march towards Parliament on the opening day of the monsoon session, police used tear gas, lathi charge and anti-riot vehicles to disperse the crowd at several places including Jantar Mantar, Shastri Bhawan, Rail Bhawan and Connaught Place.
The actor has been one of the few Bollywood celebrities to publicly support Wangchuk and the student-led movement. His latest post comes days after Wangchuk was taken away by police from New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on the morning of July 18, while he was on a hunger strike.
Soon after the incident, Sonakshi shared a video on Instagram criticizing the police action and expressing relief that Wangchuk was safe.
He said, “What happened to Sonam sir today was not right. I am happy that he is fine and his wife is with him. He is strong, he is alert. In the last few days, I have seen him and thousands of people standing with him.”
He also praised the students and youth who participated in the protests and said that they remained peaceful despite the circumstances.
He further said, “No matter what is happening, they have been calm, respectful and have expressed their views without any violence. We all know that the strength of the country lies in its youth. Now, after seeing them, I feel that this is true. Even after all the inconveniences, disappointments and difficulties, the way you have maintained your beliefs, I salute you.”
Earlier, on July 16, Sonakshi had released another video in support of Wangchuk, in which she expressed concern over his health as he continued his hunger strike.
He had said, “I have never made such a statement, but today we cannot ignore her. Sonam Wangchuk. We all know her. We know what she has done for our country, what are her achievements and how many awards she has won.”
Referring to his fast, she said, “He is hungry. He has not eaten anything. Who is he doing this for? He is doing this for the future of children who lost their lives. He is fighting a system that is not working properly. I know this. You know this. We all know this.”
roar The actor also raised questions on those who remained silent on the issue.
She urged the government to initiate talks with Wangchuk, saying, “Many people are still silent. I cannot remain silent. Whatever will happen, let it happen. No problem. I cannot remain silent.” He said, “Why is no one listening? No one cares. No one is ready to talk.” He concluded, “I am not anti-national.”
Sonakshi’s latest post adds to the growing list of public figures speaking out in support of Wangchuk and the CJP protest, which has again focused attention on demands for education reform and accountability.
