Actors Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt have opened up about the possibility the devil wears prada 3. While expressing interest in returning for the third installment, the cast mentioned two important conditions.

in an interview with PeopleWhen asked what it would take for the trio to return after taking 20 years off for a sequel, Streep, 76, quickly responded: “The script.”

Blunt, 43, agreed, saying, “A good script. It’s all about the script,” while Hathaway, 43, said that “everyone has to say yes”. Blunt said it would also require a “core four” – the three actors and Stanley Tucci, who is married to Blunt’s sister Felicity Blunt. Streep then joked, “They have to survive.”

In the devil wears prada 2Streep returns as Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, reuniting with Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, who has stepped into the role of features editor of the magazine. The plot follows the pair as they attempt to secure advertising investment from Priestley’s former assistant Emily Charlton, played by Blunt, who becomes head of Dior’s US operations. The film is currently running in theatres.

Hathaway noted that returning to the role of Andy gave her the opportunity to reflect on significant personal growth and changes in her life since the production of the original film.

“The thing that impressed me was that when we made the first movie, I was just a messed up 22-year-old,” the actor said.

She continued, “I mean, I’m in a different stage of my life. I’m really lucky. I found someone I love very much (husband Adam Shulman). We’ve been married for 17 years. We have two kids. I feel like my life is in a much more complete and wholesome place. I felt very lost when I was 22, which really worked for the character.”

Streep described the experience of reprising her role as “pretty easy”, also mentioning that she believed “you retain these characters.” The actor added, “I loved finding (Miranda) again.”
