Thalapathy Vijay starrer ‘GOAT’ has got one more day to increase its advance booking numbers, and it has already started creating staggering records. It has now registered the biggest advance booking for a Tamil film this year, surpassing the pre-sales business of ‘Indian 2’. According to trade website reports, as of 6 pm on Tuesday, September 3, the Tamil pan-India entertainer grossed Rs 12.82 crore on its opening day in India by selling over six lakh tickets. SaconilcThis data does not include business received from blocked seats. The total opening day gross from advance bookings so far, including blocked seats, is around Rs 16.25 crore.

It is spectacular and is at par with Vijay’s superstardom, especially in the South market. The film is releasing on Thursday, September 5 and with one more day left, the first day advance booking at the box office is expected to cross Rs 20 crore. The total first day numbers for the film are likely to be in the range of Rs 30-40 crore, which will be a phenomenal achievement.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘GOAT’ is set to become the biggest Tamil opener of the year, surpassing ‘Indian 2’, which had earned Rs 25.6 crore. After all, the film’s ultimate goal would be to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year by beating ‘Indian 2’ again. The target doesn’t seem so lofty, as Shankar’s vigilante drama has grossed Rs 81.32 crore in its lifetime run at the domestic box office. Given the craze for ‘GOAT’ among the audience in the South market, the film is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the first weekend itself.

Before ‘GOAT’, Vijay’s last film ‘Leo’ had earned a total of Rs 341.04 crore in India. It will be interesting to see how long ‘GOAT’ takes to cross this figure.
