Thalapathy Vijay collapses at Chennai airport amid huge crowd chaos after Jan Nayagan event in Malaysia

Thalapathy Vijay faced a tense moment late on Sunday night when he was surrounded by the crowd at the Chennai airport and lost his balance for a while. The actor was returning from Malaysia, where he attended the audio launch of Jan Nayakan. The incident occurred when the actor-politician was heading towards his car amidst a huge crowd of fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of him after the grand overseas event.

According to reports, Thalapathi Vijay had just come out of the airport terminal when the crowd increased near the exit area. Before he could enter his vehicle, he slipped and fell. The security personnel reacted immediately and picked him up and placed him safely in the car. Visuals of the moment, broadcast by several television channels, quickly spread online, causing concern among fans. After this Vijay was seen leaving the premises without any further problem.

The actor had returned from Kuala Lumpur after attending the Jan Nyagan Audio launch held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on December 27. The event witnessed an unprecedented attendance of approximately one million fans and entered the Malaysian Book of Records for recording the largest audience at an audio launch. Malaysia hosts one of the largest Tamil diasporas globally, which adds to the scale and emotional significance of the celebrations.

During the event, Vijay gave a powerful speech reiterating his decision to move away from cinema and devote himself entirely to public service. Describing Jana Nayakan as his last film, he credited his fans for shaping his journey and said that he is leaving films for the people who stood by him.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayakan stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamita Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narayan and Priyamani. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on January 9, 2026 and is being seen as an important milestone in Vijay’s career.
