Thalapathy Vijay breaks silence on ‘recent problems’, asks fans not to worry
Actor and politician Thalapathy Vijay, speaking at a Women’s Day event in Chennai, discussed the recent issues around him. He requested his supporters not to panic and stressed the need to give priority to public welfare.
Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay on Saturday addressed concerns about the “recent problems around us”. His comments came in response to the attention his personal life has drawn in recent weeks, even the controversy over his latest film, Jan NayganRefuses to die.
The 51-year-old, who has a large and dedicated following, was speaking at the Women’s Day program of his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in Chennai, where he clarified his view on the current situation.

A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, has Vijay appealing to his fans not to feel sad or stressed because of his problems. He said, “Please don’t worry about the recent problems around me. Those issues are not worth your time. I will take care of them myself. What hurts me the most is that you are sad or stressed because of my problems. Please don’t carry that burden for me. Instead, let’s focus on people’s welfare.”
Divorce proceedings from Sangeeta
His comments come at a time when his personal life has become the subject of widespread discussion online and in the media.
Some time back, his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam had filed a petition for divorce from Vijay after 26 years of marriage. Vijay and Sangeeta got married in August 1999 and have two children – Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha.
His petition alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital affair with a female actor. According to the petition, Sangeeta came to know about the alleged relationship in 2021.
Sangeeta filed a subsequent petition seeking residential security and financial relief. In the filing, Sangeeta – a United Kingdom citizen who states that she does not have her own residence in India – sought the right to remain in her matrimonial home or to be provided with alternative accommodation.
According to the petition, “Vijay made it clear that if he approached the court for legal separation, he would not be allowed to live in the marital home.”
Speculations have intensified due to his appearance with Trisha
The petition came to light when Vijay attended a wedding reception with actor Trisha Krishnan, which was organized for filmmaker Kalpana Suresh and Meenakshi’s son. According to reports, Vijay and Trisha reached the venue together in the same car and were also seen leaving the event together.
Why is Jan Nayakan’s release delayed?
Jan NayganDirected by H Vinoth and starring Prakash Raj and Pooja Hegde, it is widely considered to be Vijay’s final cinematic appearance before moving away from acting.
The film has been continuously delayed, leaving uncertainty over its release. The project was originally expected to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, but reports have indicated that pending certification issues have halted progress.
According to multiple industry sources, the delay is linked to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It is reported that the review committee has not yet started the review process. It is also said that the newly appointed panel has neither initiated re-censoring proceedings nor issued a formal communication to the film’s production house, KVN Productions.
Without certification approval, manufacturers are unable to lock in a fixed release date.
