Salman Khan’s Tere Naam has registered a good opening weekend in its re-release. After a steady second day, the film registered a slow growth on Sunday, earning Rs. 27 lakhs to the tally. This brought its opening weekend earnings to Rs. Earning Rs 75 crore at the box office.
Directed by the late Satish Kaushik, Tere Naam was re-released in limited screens on 27 February in a clash with The Kerala Story 2. Considering the huge audience demand around the film, it fell a bit short. Ideally, Salman Khan’s film should have crossed the Rs crore mark. 1 crore mark in the opening weekend itself.
However, one should note that Tere Naam hit the theaters in the month of Ramzan, which is considered a dull period from a commercial point of view as the Muslim community does not watch movies during Ramzan. Co-starring Bhumika Chawla and Ravi Kishan, Tere Naam should aim for a strong trend on weekdays and then a solid bounce in the second weekend to survive for a long time in its second innings. It will be interesting to see whether the film takes off or not.
One positive for Tere Naam is that it will do well till the release of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge and Toxic on Eid 2026, as there are no important releases coming in between. He said, this 23 year old film needs a strong performance so that it can stay in theaters for such a long time.
