Prashanth Varma’s film ‘Hanuman’, which is one of the biggest hits of 2024, is going to be released in Japan in October. The film will also be re-released exclusively in India. Director Prashanth Varma informed that Hanu-Man has been converted into 3D and the international versions will be released in 3D.

“We have converted ‘Hanuman’ to 3D now, and the international versions will be released in 3D. We are planning to re-release the film in 3D on selected screens in India around the same time as the Japanese release,” Prashanth told Hindustan Times.

Japan has become an attractive market for South Indian films after the success of ‘RRR’ (2022) and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

Prashanth said South Indian sensibilities are closer to Japanese and Korean sensibilities, which makes these films appeal to Japanese audiences. “Over time, the North has been much more influenced by the West. They have started imitating the West more in the last decade than the South. South Indian sensibilities are still very close to Japan and Korea in terms of emotions, and if your film has potential, the Japanese audience loves it,” he said.

‘Hanuman’ achieved huge box office success in a challenging year for Indian films. Prashanth attributed this success to the low ticket prices, making it affordable for more audiences.
