Even if you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of OpenGL. However, setting up your own instance may seem daunting and you’ll need a device to run it – why not just use your phone? That’s what Techno was thinking when he started work on EllaClaw.
EllaClaw will be built into Tecno’s AI assistant (called Ella) and will go into beta next month. If you’re interested, you’ll soon be able to sign up for the beta via online registration. More details to follow.
However, seriously, what is OpenClaw? It’s an AI agent that has a number of skills that you can use, usually over a chat interface (like Telegram). However, Tecno will make EllaClaw accessible through its Ella assistant. As far as skills go, these are like program instructions that you can write yourself or use instructions written by someone else.
To get you started, Tecno has developed some skills. The Smart SMS Summary skill will look through messages and mark important messages (such as bank notifications, bills and time-sensitive messages), as well as mark messages that are safe to delete.
The Daily Schedule skill will look at your calendar events and notes, check the weather and news, and write a daily briefing for you. Techno will release more skills in the future and you will be able to add your skills.
Using Elaclaw’s Skills
Skills can be triggered through natural language commands or they can run on a schedule. The good thing is that the skill covers all the details and intricacies of how the job is done, you don’t have to explain it every time.
OpenClaw (and thus EllaClaw) has a persistent memory – this allows it to learn from past interactions and adapt to your preferences and habits. Memory also allows the agent to keep track of long-running or scheduled tasks.
To do its job, EllaClaw will need to seamlessly receive information from multiple sources. Tecno has built it into its Android branch HIOS, so it works at the system level.
As you can imagine, there is a lot of potential for things to go wrong – that’s why AllaCloud has built-in privacy safeguards that isolate user data and prevent access by unauthorized third parties.
