Tecno has been expanding its reach outside the budget realm for some time now, and it announced a strategic partnership with Italian luxury lifestyle brand Tonino Lamborghini at MWC. This name is no coincidence as Tonino Lamborghini was founded and named after Ferruccio Lamborghini’s son, although despite the similarity in the logo it is not actually associated with Lamborghini sports cars.

The first smartphone to come from the budding collaboration is the Tecno Powa Metal Tonino Lamborghini Edition, and we got to get hands-on with it soon after it was announced.
From the vibrant red color to the aggressive back design, which includes a triangular camera bump and a pulse light running down the center, the Pova Metal Tonino Lamborghini definitely stands out. Tecno also has white and black variants of the phone, although the red version is more attractive.

And this extends to build quality. It is one of the few rare phones to have a metal unibody design. Tecno proudly claims that this is the “first full-metal unibody 5G phone” and we have to say that it’s a refreshing take on a world of predominantly glass and metal sandwich phones.

It has a nice weight and subtle curve at the back, making it quite comfortable to hold. Tecno hasn’t revealed a lot of specifications for the device, but we do know that it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. The camera island has a small status light display, similar to the Nothing phone’s (3) own glyph matrix. Like the Nothing Phone, it can be personalized to show dynamic scenes, notifications and is made from 241 independent LEDs.

It also works in sync with the pulse LED light strip running behind. On the software front, the phone boots Tecno’s HiOS 16 based on Android 16 with custom Tonino Lamborghini theme and icon pack. That’s all we can share about the device right now. Hopefully, Tecno will reveal more specifications as well as pricing and availability details soon.
