Tamil actor blasts reporter for ‘sleeveless’ comment, question media silence
A female anchor called a reporter, who questioned her dress at a film event and criticized the media’s silence. He said that such incidents affected him mentally and questioned the morality of the film press.
Tamil actor and langar, Aishwarya Raghupati, when she was questioned about her dress, hit her back to the media fraternity to keep quiet. He made a statement regarding an incident that took place two weeks ago when a reporter publicly questioned his organization at a film release event.
In a promotional program for a film, Aishwarya, who was hosting the show, urged the media to take precautions against the heat heat. In response, a mob reporter asked her if she was wearing a sleeveless blouse, she was also part of her plan to defeat the heat. Ebac took, Aishwarya hesitated and questioned why her dress has become a point of discussion in a film event.
The reporter defended his question, saying that he meant that cotton sarees were suitable for summer and they insisted that she is just “yes” or “not.” Aishwarya later said that she does not know how to answer at this time and said that there is a time and place for such questions.
On Monday, when she once again took the stage in another event, Aishwarya directly addressed the controversy. He said, “It took me five seconds to feel if I asked if I wore a sleeveless to feel the wind. I did not know whether to answer or remain calm. I would not have reacted, but people did,” he said, referring to the one who faced online backlash.
He called the reporter’s Facebook post to his question, calling it a “devious justification”, and reflects such behavior. “Do men like you think that you can dominate me because I used to be patient?” He asked.
As he said, some journalists in the audience attempted to disrupt and defend their colleagues. But Aishwarya called the media silence during the original incident and made her ground. “What was the link between drinking water and my saree? Why did none of you question her?” He asked.
When the organizers asked him to go to the next segment, his comment was reduced.
Last week, he also gave a statement on Instagram while addressing the issue. “It is disappointing that even today, many men in our society still have a sense of ego and anarchism. It is even more disappointing when such behavior comes from someone like a reporter, who should be better aware,” he wrote.
This was not the first time he faced uncomfortable moments on stage. In an earlier program, Aishwarya said that an actor tried to garland him and crossed the individual boundaries, an incident that she said affects her mental health.
