Sydney Sweeney reveals ‘struggle’ to date after breakup from Jonathan Davino: ‘Never used a dating app’

Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino were dating for about seven and a half years. The couple was first linked in 2018 and eventually got engaged in 2022. However, their long-term romance ended in early 2025, after which the actress was linked with several people, but she did not confirm any of those romances. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she opened up about why she ‘never talked’ about her dating life, and a lot of it has to do with the public nature of her job.

Sydney Sweeney has had a big year, and starting 2026 with the excitement of the next season of Euphoria has worked very well in her favor. Not one to talk much about her personal life, the actress, when asked about her relationship and subsequent split from Jonathan Davino, revealed that she always thought ‘it’s important to keep certain things to myself.’

Aware of the constant, countless eyes on her, she added, “I understand I’m a public person, but I’m still 20. I’m still figuring out love, and it’s hard to do that with millions of people who have their own opinions about what that looks like.” Highlighting what it’s been like to enter the dating scene after her split from the 42-year-old businessman, she said, “But it’s hard to decide that I want to experience love in the public eye. I’m just doing it.”

And although she struggles to be alone, she is still determined. “I wake up and every time I’m standing in a room where there’s only one guy, I realize I’m dating a different guy,” she said. After some time of keeping to herself and a few crying sessions, she is trying her best to get out there and meet someone new, but it is not easy. "I’ve never dated before. “I’ve never even used a dating app.”
