Swiggy’s Instamart has once again lifted the curtain on how India shops in 2025, and this year’s data tells stories that oscillate wildly between everyday convenience and pure indulgence. From a Bengaluru user spending just Rs 10 on a printout to a Hyderabad buyer tapping his phone to buy an iPhone worth Rs 4.3 lakh, the platform’s latest annual order analysis shows how instant commerce has quietly reached almost every corner of daily life.

According to Swiggy’s official release for How India Instamarted 2025, Instamart is no longer just about emergency groceries or last-minute snacks. The most striking example came from Hyderabad, where a gadget lover put together the biggest single cart of the year, spending Rs 4.3 lakh on multiple iPhone 17 units at once. In fact, over the year, the biggest spenders on Instamart crossed Rs 22 lakh, filling their carts with everything from 22 iPhone 17s and 24K gold coins to an air fryer, along with everyday essentials like milk, eggs, ice cream and fresh fruits.

Big tech was not limited to just one city. In Noida, a self-proclaimed tech enthusiast added a Bluetooth speaker, SSD and robotic vacuum cleaner worth Rs 2.69 lakh to his cart in a single order. Meanwhile, Bengaluru went into festive shopping during Diwali, where a user ordered a one kilogram silver brick worth Rs 1.97 lakh, turning instant delivery into a literally huge purchase.

Food and drink also had their own zenith. One account from Bengaluru spent Rs 4.36 lakh on noodles alone, proving that comfort food can be taken very seriously. Mumbai users, on the other hand, are on a caffeine fix, with one account spending Rs 16.3 lakh on Red Bull Sugar Free over the year. Hyderabad added a soft touch to the data, where a user spent over Rs 31,000 on roses, while Chennai was crowned its “Pet Parent of the Year” as a customer spent Rs 2.41 lakh on pet supplies.

The trend of fitness and health was strongly visible in NCR. A gym lover from Noida bought 1,343 protein items and spent a total of around Rs 2.8 lakh. Gold has also made its way into quick-commerce carts, with users in Mumbai alone making gold purchases worth Rs 15.16 lakh in 2025, suggesting some shoppers preferred tapping into Instamart rather than keeping an eye on market charts.

Not every story was about big expenses. The smallest cart of the year came from Bengaluru, where a user ordered a simple printout of Rs 10, showing how even the smallest of needs are now being met through instant delivery. Chennai also provided one of the most intriguing data points of the year, with 228 separate condom orders placed in a single account amounting to over Rs 1 lakh, a reminder that “planning ahead” can take many forms.

Tipping trends added another layer to the story. Bengaluru emerged as the tipping capital of India on Instamart, with one generous user alone tipping delivery partners Rs 68,600 in a year. Chennai was last, with tips crossing Rs 59,500, showing that appreciation for fast delivery is translating into real money.
