Sutapa Sikdar remembers Irrfan on anniversary, recalls her wish to marry again
Sutapa Sikdar remembered late actor Irrfan with an emotional note on their wedding anniversary, why she chose their wedding date and her wish to get married again after 25 years.

Late actor Irrfan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar remembered him with a heartfelt note on their wedding anniversary. Sharing a video, they recalled why they chose their wedding date and talked about their unfulfilled plans to get married again after completing 25 years together.
Posting the video on Instagram, she wrote, “Our anniversary was on 23rd and the reason for choosing the date was to keep that date similar to my birthday. So that Irrfan could remember. He did not remember the dates.”

In her note, Sutapa revealed that she had deliberately chosen his birthday, February 23, as Irrfan often forgot dates.
She also revealed that after completing 25 years of marriage, Irrfan wanted to marry her again, this time with all the rituals and ceremonies that they had given up during their simple wedding in 1995.
He wrote, “Belated congratulations Irrfan on your wedding anniversary. When we completed 25 years of marriage, you wanted to get married again. You wanted to do everything that we did not do in our simplest wedding, but fate also sided with you and we could not get married again with all the rituals.”
Referring to the holy month of Ramadan, Sutapa linked the timing of his death to faith and prayer.
He said, “In my part of the world we are fasting in Ramzan. And Irfan must be telling you that by fasting. And to make you understand this better he has called you there in Ramzan. Happy marriage and Ramzan!!”
He also shared that he traveled to Irrfan’s hometown Tonk to celebrate the occasion.
She said, “I traveled to your hometown Tonk and celebrated D Day! I can hear you laughing at the word D Day!!”
Sutapa and Irfan got married on 23 February 1995, and have two sons, Babil and Aayan.
Irfan passed away in 2020 Complications related to colon infection after treatment of neuroendocrine tumors.
